Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy. The information on this page lets you know how the College processes and uses your personal information on the CAP Web site. Any and all information collected on the CAP Web site will be kept strictly confidential. Any information you give to the CAP will be held with the utmost care, and will not be used in ways that you have not consented to.

E-mail addresses are never released to any organization. On occasion the College makes its membership list available to non-profit organizations that offer continuing medical education (CME) programs. Part of your profile includes privacy preferences regarding the release of your name to non-profit organizations for mailings pertaining to these educational programs. You can review your privacy preferences and determine whether you wish to receive these mailings.

Information we collect about you

The College offers access to services on the Web site that require registration and authentication using your e-mail address. The College does not intend to sell, rent, or otherwise give your e-mail address to a third party without your consent.

When you pay for something via the CAP Web site, we will ask you for your name, e-mail address, mailing address, credit card number, and credit card expiration date. This lets us process and fulfill your request and notify you with confirmation or update messages. We will not share or sell credit card information with any third parties without your express permission.

Use of cookies on the CAP Web site

The CAP Web site may send a “cookie” to your computer. A cookie is a small piece of data sent to your browser and stored on your computer’s hard drive. A cookie cannot read data off of your hard drive or read cookie files created by other Web site. The CAP uses cookies to identify which areas of the CAP Web site you have visited or customized so that those pages can be made readily available to you when you next visit us.

Resale or disclosure of information to third parties

The CAP does not rent, loan, trade, or lease any personal information collected on the site.

Browser information collected on our Web site

When you visit a page on the CAP Web site, the College’s Web servers automatically recognize your domain name and Internet protocol (IP) address (every computer connected to the Internet has a domain name and IP address). This information does not reveal anything personal about you; we use this information to examine our Web traffic overall.

The CAP analyzes Web site logs to constantly improve the value of the materials available on the site. The logs are not personally identifiable, and we make no attempt to link them with individuals that actually browse the site.

You also may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing a question or comment, or by filling out a Web form that provides us this information. We use personally identifying information from email primarily to respond to your requests. We may forward your email to other employees who are better able to answer you questions. We may also use your email to contact you in the future about our programs that may be of interest.

We want to be very clear: We will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary. Except as might be required by law, we do not share any information we receive with any outside parties.
